INEC officer, three other female bodies found in room in Anambra
The bodies of four women including that of a female INEC officer, Mrs
Chinwe Obi, who was the electoral officer for Onitsha South Local
Government Area have been found dead inside her home situated on Olisa
Onyeka Crescent near the Commissioners’ quarters in Awka GRA, Anambra
state yesterday September 9th.

All Boko Haram camps have completely been wiped out- Defence HQ
This is some cheering news from the Defence Headquarters.
At its maiden media chat which held in Abuja yesterday September 9th,
The Director of Defence Information (DDI), Colonel Rabe Abubakar said
the military is winning the war against Boko Haram as all the camps of
the terror group have been destroyed.

12 fire incidents recorded in Lagos in the last 24 hours
According to statistics provided by the National Emergency Management
Agency, NEMA, there have been 12 cases of fire incidents in Lagos state
in
the last 24 hours. The areas in the state where these fire incidents
occurred include Lekki, Lawanson, Ikoyi, Agege, Yaba, Magodo Phase
1, Ojuelegba, Bariga, Ojo, Ijora and UNILAG.
3-week old baby, 3 children, parents & a grandmother burnt to death in Lagos
A 3-week old baby, three children, their parents and their grand
mother were all burnt to death yesterday in a fire outbreak that broke out
at their home located at Micheal Ogun street in the Lawanson area of
Lagos state. One of the daughters of the family was also badly burnt but
survived the incident and is currently receiving medical attention at
the Gbagada General hospital.
5 Nigerian pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia
The Head of Madinah Operations of the National Hajj Commission of
Nigeria (NAHCON), Bello Tambuwal, yesterday disclosed that 5 Nigerian Muslim
pilgrims have died since they arrived Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage.
According to Tambuwal, four of the deceased died in Madinah while one died in
Mecca.

UNILAG shuts down following students protest over death of their colleague
The management of the University of Lagos Akoka have shut down the
school indefinitely following the protest that erupted yesterday in the
school premises over the electrocution of one of its students, Oluchi
Anekwe. Oluchi was electrocuted in front of one of the
halls of residence within the school campus on September 8th.

Two Nigerian men identified as Joseph Uyamadu, 43, and Emanuel Umiano,
33 were on Monday September 7th arrested by Thailand security officials
for allegedly producing cocaine at their rented house in a rubber
plantation in Ban Khai district of Rayong province. Arrested along with
them was their Peruvian accomplice.
A search carried out by the police revealed a large portion of cocaine thrown into a flush tank, a bag containing black and sticky substance similar to raw opium, black sheets of substance, corrosive acid, electric grinder, a microwave oven, kerosene, and two cars.

Military frees 128 Boko Haram detainees in Borno
128 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were today released to the
Borno state government after investigations by the Nigerian army showed
they had no ties with the sect. Presenting the released suspects
comprising of 109 men, seven women, 11 boys and one unattached teenager,
to the state governor, Kashim Shettima, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS),

Many injured as hotel collapses in Delta
No fewer than seven people sustained injuries after a popular hotel, the
Mekaval hotel situated in Effurun-Warri in Delta state collapsed at

Jesus Save road in Asaba, the Delta state capital. Heavy downpour,
which has been experienced in the state for over three weeks, coupled
